President Salva Kiir bans national anthem

President Salva Kiir has banned the national anthem from being played or sung in his absence. The President believes that the national anthem is used abusively by some government officials such as ministers, under-secretaries, and even governors.

The ban was approved on Friday at a cabinet meeting. But he points to two exceptions: schools, where children learn the national anthem and embassies abroad.
