It is all systems go in Niger’s capital, Niamey, as the country is set to inaugurate Diori Hamani International Airport, its new airport that is expected to provide a new gateway into the country.

The International and Domestic Terminal of the new Diori Hamani International Airport  comes with a Presidential Pavilion which has semi-circular design, two fixed links and four fully segregated air bridges that will service two Code E aircraft or four Code C aircraft.

The new airport which will be inaugurated tomorrow, Tuesday, June 6, 2019, was designed with a sweeping curved roof which projects dynamic movements towards the air-side and echoes the concept of movement. The airport is, as well, enriched by local motifs and patterns that give a sense of place and belonging.

As earlier on shown in the design of the new airport, Africa Global News has obtained exclusive photos showing the incorporation of the dinosaurs fossils found in Niamey as permanent museum display in the terminal.

The Diori Hamani International Airport is situated eight kilometers southeast of Niamey. Apart from the new passenger terminal, the airside runway, the new parallel taxiways, a utility center, water chillers and water tanks are just a few of the many features that you will get in this new airport.

On July 5, 2018, Niger’s President Mahamadou Issoufou and the CEO of SUMMA Construction, Mr Selim Bora, attended the ground breaking ceremony for the new International Terminal and Presidential pavilion after it had been designed by Scott Brownrigg, the Lead Designer of Diori Hamani International Airport.

Various dignitaries, including those drawn from various quarters, are expected to grace the event and officially open the new airport which will, beyond any doubt, be a pride of Niger. The airport is also expected to give other airports in the region a run for their money.
