Buried diffuser innovation by Wassim Chahbani

The Buried Diffuser is a creation of Chahtech SA, which is a Tunisia industrial commercial company. The innovation enables the utilization of irrigation water in plants deep in the soil. Its goal is to produce more food using less water through targeting to get utility with every drop of water. The latter will enable the production of more crops even in areas with inadequate rainfall. Wassim Chahbani utilized local materials when manufacturing the diffuser such as plastic, cements, metal, ceramic, and more. They also used plastic injections using specific moulds and plastic injection machines. Once the diffuser is underground it would be used for the permanent convectional irrigation.

The method is beneficial for irrigation of trees, vegetables, plants in containers, and other annual crops.  You will find different methods that the diffuser uses in the irrigation of different crops.   The irrigation of forest trees, fruit trees, ornament and shrubs will need the installation of diffusers 30 to 50 cm below the earth surface. If you want to use the diffuser to irrigate vegetables in green houses, you will put it 3 cm from the axis of the plant.  The diffuser should sink 5 to 10 cm below the soil surface.  Using the diffuser for irrigation of plants in containers, boxes, or pots will enable the water to last three times longer compare to using other irrigation methods.

Using the buried diffuser comes with many advantages.  It enables the saving of water, which is an insufficient commodity in arid and semi arid areas.  It also enables a reduction in the number of irrigation one would do. It also enables the conservation of energy as you would not do much of the pumping. Not to mention, you will reduce amount or irrigation labor, fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides used for production process.
