Your healthy heart diet must focus on food that you like to eat and can easily be included in your regular diet. It should be part of your diet, not an addition. If you take the example of the Mediterranean diet, it might be very healthy for your heart but not every one of us is able to include a Mediterranean diet to our regular food. It would be better if you have a look on various food items that are good for your heart and select a few according to your choice and preferences.

What Are The Options For A Healthy Heart Diet?

Healthy Heart food options include:

  • Nuts: Peanuts have monounsaturated fats and also the dietary fiber that ensure a healthy heart. You may take a few dry salted peanuts in your breakfast to reduce the risk of heart problems.
  • Fruits and Vegetables:  You may include fruits and vegetables in every meal or may start your day with a plate full of fruits. They contain potassium and vitamin C and also phytonutrients. All in all these fruits and vegetables have a lot of antioxidants that act as best anti-inflammatory agents in the body.
  • Omega-3 foods: Omega -3 foods are best to include in any diet. Salmon, fresh tuna, sardines, albacore tuna and walnuts are all rich in Omega -3.
  • Olive oil: Olive oil contains monounsaturated fats, polyphenols and vitamin E. It is very easy to include 1 tablespoon of olive oil into your daily diet. Its anti-inflammatory properties are considered best for a healthy heart.
  • Tea: Again, something that can easily be placed in your daily diet. You may take tea, black, white or green 2-3 cups in a day to give your heart a healthy support.

You can also include more of such things like dark chocolate, whole grain or fiber rich foods that are easy to accommodate in your daily diet. Whatever you choose, make certain that you have evenly divided the over the various courses of the day.  Large meals give the body fatigue, whereas smaller meals keep the energy level up all day.
