NBA season – here he is again!

By Guillaume Mahot

In this new NBA season 2019/2020 filled up with incredible performances, brand new experiences like the NBA Paris Game but also blood, sweat and tears, we had nearly forgotten about the three-time NBA champion (2015, 2017, 2018) and MVP of the 2015 NBA Finals. We had also nearly put apart the fact that without him, the Golden State Warriors were not exactly the same (it is not only a matter of Splash Brothers). Nevertheless, while the transfer period is about to come to an end (on Thursday night), here he is again! American Nigerian forward Andre Iguodala, 36 years old since January 28, is going to play for the Miami Heat and will then find back the Eastern Conference after eight years playing for the Philadelphia Sixers (2004-2012).

Andre Iguodala, whose departure from Oakland was quite painful for Warriors coach Steve Kerr, was vegetating in the franchise of the Memphis Grizzlies so far, unwilling to play for them in spite of an astonishing beginning of season that currently puts Ja Morant and his teammates at the 8th place, the last qualifying one for the playoffs. Without having worn their jersey one single time (the famous Did Not Play). In Miami, Andre Iguodala should sign for two years and 30 million dollars, which is not so bad at 36!

The Heat of coach Erik Spoelstra is having a good season (4th) despite last night’s defeat in Los Angeles against the Clippers (111-128). With a victory rate of 68%, they are in a very good position before the upcoming playoffs in April. Supported by skilled players like Jimmy Butler, Goran Dragic and Kelly Olynyk, they will get much more experience with the former Warrior. For Memphis, the loss is relative since Iggy never played for them, but the perspective to see a player reluctant to defend their colors leave will surely be a good thing still.
