DH Developers Ghana has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding with UAE-based ZAKH Renewable Energy and Engineering Manufacturing to integrate solar energy into its future property developments, a move expected to create longer-term value for investors while expanding the market for renewable energy solutions in African real estate.
The agreement, signed on September 3, 2026, during the official launch of DH Developers Ghana’s first office in Dubai, provided a perfect platform for strategic expansion for the two companies. Kwabena Ofori Addo, Chief Executive Officer of DH Developers Ghana, signed on behalf of the renowned property developer, while ZAKH’s Chief Commercial Officer, Aaron Davidoff, represented the renewable energy company.
Under the agreement, solar energy systems will be incorporated into DH Developers Ghana’s future developments rather than being considered only after construction. The companies say this will allow investors and property owners to benefit from lower energy costs once projects are handed over.
For DH Developers Ghana, the partnership provides access to a dedicated renewable energy manufacturing and engineering partner as it develops projects built around more eco-friendly and sustainable energy use. It is also expected that integrating solar at the development stage will go a long way in strengthening the long-term operating proposition of its properties by reducing reliance on conventional electricity supply.
For ZAKH, on the other hand, the partnership creates a channel to deploy its solar technology within real estate projects in Ghana, connecting its manufacturing capabilities in the United Arab Emirates with an African property development pipeline. It also allows the company, the only solar manufacturer in the United Arab Emirates to hold the Made in the Emirates certification, to expand the practical application of solar solutions beyond standalone energy projects and into the design and operation of buildings.
In his remarks during the signing of the MOU, Davidoff said the partnership would focus on turning planned solar capacity into projects that reach commercial operation.
“Only 13–20% of announced solar capacity ever reaches commercial operation,” he said, adding that the arrangement with DH Developers Ghana would provide a practical benefit to both partners and their investors. ZAKH Renewable Energy and Engineering Manufacturing is based in the UAE and manufactures solar energy products and solutions for different applications.
The partnership comes as Ghana’s property sector faces growing pressure to consider energy efficiency and environmental performance in new buildings. In July 2026, Ghana’s Energy Commission announced plans to incorporate energy-efficiency requirements into the building-permit process, using the country’s Building Energy Efficiency Guideline. Ghana’s National Energy Policy also identifies solar energy as an important renewable resource and promotes greater use of renewable energy and energy efficiency as part of the country’s transition towards a lower-carbon energy system.
For developers, incorporating solar into new projects will, therefore, address both the environmental footprint of buildings and the recurring cost of powering them. For investors and eventual property owners, the potential reduction in electricity expenditure could influence the long-term cost of owning and operating a development.
The MoU also gives the two companies, DH Developers Ghana and ZAKH Renewable Energy and Engineering Manufacturing, room to develop a model that combines property development with renewable energy infrastructure, with potential relevance to Ghana’s wider push for more energy-efficient and environmentally responsible buildings.
The opening of DH Developers Ghana’s Dubai office marks the company’s expansion of its presence into the UAE and creates a base from which it can engage international investors and business partners.
