A new jersey for the Springboks

Less than five months’ time before the beginning of the 2019 rugby world cup in Japan (September 20th – November 2nd), the South African Springboks revealed the brand new jersey they will display for the competition. Called “unstoppable”, this new model is still deeply rooted in the tradition of the country: mainstream symbols and colors have been preserved, with a little bit of changes though.

The jersey is green with a protea on the left, the national flower of South Africa, which counts more than a hundred species on its lands. The Webb Ellis cup (the trophy that rewards the winner of the world cup) and the springbok take place on each sleeve while the logo of this 2019 edition has been put on the right side of the jersey.

South Africa will try to grasp a third trophy in Japan after 1995 and 2007. The mission will be a genuine hardship since New Zealand is back on track after many years of disappointment, where the All Blacks were constantly failing after the first trophy won in 1987. The team from Pacific took the two last editions (2011, 2015) and will be the first team to challenge South Africa in this upcoming tournament.

In Japan, the Boks will have to make their way to the quarter finals after a group phase where they will face up to New Zealand so, but also Italy, Namibia and Canada.
