Three girls dancing the world alight

Meet Norah, Yarah, and Rosa, stage name ‘Let It Happen’, three young Congolese-Dutch sisters who are dancing up a storm and are using their rhythm to bring attention to important world issues.

Twins Norah and Yarah, 14, and younger sister Rosa, 12, have been dancing for as long as they can remember. Norah and Yarah started dancing in their Congolese grandmother’s kitchen in Limburg, the Netherlands. They were soon joined by spirited little Rosa. Little did the trio know that they would soon have the world at their feet, dancing on stage at ‘The Ellen Show’ and working with Disney.

Currently, ‘Let It Happen’ has almost 600 000 followers on Instagram, with each of their highly energetic and entertaining videos easily getting 1+ MILLION views. However, young though they may be and effortlessly choreographic their routines may look, but the story of Norah, Yarah and Rosa Mukanga is not an overnight success story. Norah, Yarah, and later Rosa started dance lessons at a very young age and then took part in numerous competitions across Europe. And though they may have amassed hundreds of thousands of devoted fans worldwide and may seem able to school the best adult street dance crew, they are still devout students at the Juste Debout Dance School in Paris. They work hard on improving and perfecting their craft and choreograph all of their own routines.

The trio’s preferred dance style is hip hop, but they do not only dance to hip hop music, with their routines paying homage to greats such as Ray Charles, Notorious BIG, Alicia Keys, and Nigerian singer Niniola. They also particularly like using their dancing and their platform for good, bring attention to poignant issues such as the ‘Black Lives Matter’ and dancing for women empowerment. ‘Let It Happen’ is itself a testament to the power of women, with three young girls showing little girls worldwide, and especially little black girls, that they matter and that they are strong and powerful.

With a fanbase that includes rapper Snoop Dogg and Oscar-winning actress Viola Davis, it seems as if the trio can do no wrong. We cannot wait to see what is next for the talented trio.
