2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, time to play

The eighth edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup was launched this week in Paris, France (June 7th) with the opening game between the host country and South Korea in Parc des Princes, the PSG stadium. The French won 4-0 in a competition whose favorite squad is Team USA, winner of the trophy three times (1991, 1999, 2015).

The tournament, whose final will take place in Lyon on July 7th, will see the three best teams directly participate in the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020. For this first organization in France, barely one year after the coronation of the men in Russia, French women started perfectly against the Koreans in a group that also counts Norway and Nigeria, who met yesterday in Reims. Nigeria, one of the three African teams in this competition, lost 0-3 and will have difficulties in this A group, where France and Norway are expected to pass.

South Africa, put in the B group with Spain, Germany and China, was defeated by the Spaniard 1-3 yesterday. The last team of the continent, Cameroon, will be confronted to Canada tomorrow in Montpellier. Three games are going to take place today: Australia-Italy, Brazil-Jamaica and England-Scotland.
