Egypt has confirmed a new natural gas discovery in its Western Desert, adding to a series of finds that continue to shape the country’s upstream energy landscape.
The discovery was made by United States-based Apache Corporation, one of Egypt’s long-standing partners in oil and gas exploration. According to the petroleum ministry, the field is expected to produce around 26 million cubic feet of gas per day, providing a measurable boost to domestic supply in Egypt and beyond.
The Western Desert has remained a focal point for exploration activity, largely due to its established infrastructure and relatively lower development costs compared to offshore projects. Apache has maintained a strong presence in the region for decades, operating multiple concessions and consistently delivering discoveries through ongoing drilling campaigns.
