Indicators in the real estate sector in Africa point to a\ngrowing market niche which is attracting not only local investors but even\nthose from outside the continent as well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the host of the 10th<\/sup> annual African\nProperty Investment (API) Summit Kfir Rusin, in the first two quarters of 2019,\nthey tracked ten significant transactions in excess of more than a half a\nbillion dollars across multiple jurisdictions and sectors by API Summit stakeholders.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The opportunities and growth shown by various international\nfunds, Banks, DFIs, institutional investors and PE firms as well as others is\ntestament enough that in spite of apparent indifferences to African\nopportunities in SA boardrooms, Africa\u2019s real estate sector has really improved\nfrom what it was a few years back. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe market has moved forward in the past six months, and\nwe\u2019re thrilled that so many major dealmakers will be at the API Summit to\ntransact and share their experiences with our delegates,\u201d Rusin says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the other hand, according to Craig Smith, a renowned real\nestate analyst with Anchor Stockbrokers, Africa\u2019s top real estate markets are \u201cdefinitely\na more attractive entry point than 18-24 months ago\u201d. He however cautions that\ninvestors will still require to exercise what he terms as \u201ca higher level of\ndiligence\u201d when making their investments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Rusin, South Africa and the continent as a whole\nis \u201cwitnessing sophisticated deal structuring in affordable housing,\nhospitality, logistics, office space, and mixed use, across countries and\nregions\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
