Last season Zamalek finished 6-0 and won the inaugural BAL championship.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li class=\"first last\"><strong>12&nbsp;<\/strong>\u2013 The BAL once again featured the top&nbsp;<strong>12<\/strong>&nbsp;club teams from&nbsp;<strong>12<\/strong>&nbsp;African countries.&nbsp; As part of the new BAL Elevate program&nbsp;(<a href=\"https:\/\/bal.africa-newsroom.com\/press\/countlinks\/202277\/https:%7D%7Don.nba.com%7D3LMO5Bi\/website\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/on.nba.com\/3LMO5Bi<\/a>), one NBA Academy Africa prospect joined each of the&nbsp;<strong>12<\/strong>&nbsp;BAL teams for the 2022 season.&nbsp; NBA Academy Africa is an elite basketball training center in Saly, Senegal, for the top high-school age prospects from across Africa.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li class=\"first last\"><strong>13 \u2013 A combined 13 players who competed in the group phase&nbsp;<\/strong>previously played in the NBA G League<strong>, including US Monastir\u2019s Ater James Majok, who was drafted 58<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2011 NBA Draft.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li class=\"first last\"><strong>13 \u2013&nbsp;<\/strong>The 2022 BAL season is airing on&nbsp;<strong>13&nbsp;<\/strong>free-to-air channels across Africa: 2STV (Senegal), Arryadia (Morocco), Awa TV (Nigeria), CISTV (Guinea), DigiCongo TV (the Democratic Republic of the Congo), K24 (Kenya), Kolo TV (Madagascar), On Time Sports (Middle East and North Africa), RBA (Rwanda), SABC Sports (South Africa), Tunis TV (Tunisia), TVM (Mozambique) and TV Zimbo (Angola).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li class=\"first last\"><strong>15&nbsp;<\/strong>\u2013 Ater James Majok (US Monastir), who led the BAL in rebounding during the group phase, recorded&nbsp;<strong>15<\/strong>&nbsp;or more rebounds three times.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li class=\"first last\"><strong>16 \u2013 REG\u2019s Adonis Filer dished out a BAL-record 16 assists in his team\u2019s opening game against AS Sal\u00e9.&nbsp; Filer averaged a league-high 9.2 assist per game during the group phase.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li class=\"first last\"><strong>19 \u2013&nbsp;<\/strong>The&nbsp;<strong>12 BAL teams&nbsp;<\/strong>combined to feature<strong>&nbsp;19&nbsp;<\/strong>players who previously participated in Basketball Without Borders (BWB) Africa, the NBA and FIBA\u2019s global basketball development and community outreach program for top prospects from across the continent that has seen 10 former campers drafted into the NBA.&nbsp; Former BWB Africa campers currently in the NBA include five-time All-Star Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers; Cameroon; BWB Africa 2011) and 2019 NBA Champion Pascal Siakam (Toronto Raptors; Cameroon; BWB Africa 2012).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li class=\"first last\"><strong>30 \u2013 The 12 BAL teams featured a combined&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>30&nbsp;<\/strong>former NCAA Division I players<strong>.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li class=\"first last\"><strong>38<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 After the inaugural BAL season featured a total of 26 games, the 2022 BAL season expanded to a total of&nbsp;<strong>38<\/strong>games: two 15-game group phases followed by an eight-game Playoffs and Finals.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li class=\"first last\"><strong>41<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 AS Sal\u00e9\u2019s Terrel Stoglin, who wears number&nbsp;<strong>41<\/strong>, set a new single-game BAL scoring record of&nbsp;<strong>41<\/strong>&nbsp;points in a 96-90 loss to US Monastir during the Sahara Conference group phase, breaking his own record of 40 points that he set during the 2021 BAL group phase.&nbsp;
